## Checks even without pain

A newborn's hips may need checks without obvious symptoms. Mention family history and breech presentation.

## Agree the follow-up plan

The paediatrician plans examinations and possible ultrasound according to findings, risk factors and the local pathway.

## Do not try diagnostic manoeuvres

Do not force the hips to look for clicks. Report movement difficulties or asymmetry noticed during everyday care.
