Public Healthcare (SSN) with Referral
Visit covered by the National Health Service
What you need:
- Referral – Request it from your pediatrician or family doctor. Specify 'Pediatric Orthopaedic Visit'.
- Health Card – The child's card with fiscal code.
How to book:

- • Online through the Lombardy Region portal
- • In person at the hospital counter
Waiting time:Variable depending on the period, the type of service and the priority indicated on the referral.
Private Practice (Libera Professione)
Private visit at the same hospital, paid out of pocket
Characteristics:
- Availability – Availability varies over time: the updated slots are the ones shown online.
- No referral needed – Access directly without GP prescription.
- Same specialist – Same doctors, same facilities.
How to book:
- • Call the regional intramural private practice call centre: 800 890 890
- • Check availability on MioDottore (external platform)

Which option to choose?
Choose SSN if:
